A doulas job is not to take over the role of a dad or partner, instead it is to support them in the role they would like.  We work with partners to ensure they can help mom in whichever way they choose.  This allows them to be fully present for mom with out the responsibility to remember all the details.  We have supported families where the partner wants to be the main support and also ones where they would just like to be there for mom emotionally.  We love for the partner to walk away from the birth feeling like the hero of the day.
