Katie believes that women's bodies have the wisdom to give birth, and her role as a doula is to help uncover and foster that instinct and faith. Katie is the owner of Yo mama Yoga Studio, and loves creating communities for women in the childbearing years. She finds such joy in sharing this journey with families, through Prenatal yoga, Mommy & Me, and Family Yoga, and Childbirth education. She believes that birth itself is a divine teacher, showing women their strength, and the beauty of surrender. Katie has served at over 200 births, and her doula work was featured on NPR. Her doula certification is through ALACE, and she is trained in Hyp Birth (hypnosis). She is also the creator of Yo Mama's Signature Birth Class, Inspired Birth, and her very own Hypnosis program for labor and birth, Hypnomama. Katie is a Boulder native and is thrilled to bring her work back to her home town. She and her husband enjoy their sweet little family of four in Lafayette, CO. Her son and daughter are now almost 4 years old and almost 6 months old.
Maria brings a decade of work with family and community both domestically and internationally. In 2007, Maria discovered Colorado, relocating from New York City where she had been working as a hospital-based clinical creative arts therapist. Maria’s transformative experience laboring with and birthing her first baby was the catalyst for her current work as a doula and guide for other women and their partners. She believes in the power of preparation for birth and assists clients in finding strength through the gaining of both a deep awareness of choices as well as a connection with one’s own inner wisdom and internal guidance. She values opportunities to support clients postnatally in processing their unique birth experiences so that they may be fully embraced and so that new opportunities for family bonding thrive. Maria is enjoying the navigation of her own journey with her family of four, which includes lots of bikes, races, and a blissful yoga practice.

Erin Witbeck: (pic coming soon!)
Erin is honored to call herself a doula: one who invites women to experience the source of their own power. Attending births since 2003, her practice changed dramatically after the birth of her own daughter in 2006. Becoming a mother allowed her to develop not only a deeper understanding of the birth process, but also the rites of passage involved in transitioning from an individual to a parent. Witnessing this profound transition in herself and others inspired Erin to pursue Birthing from Within, an approach that cultivates parent's inner wisdom. Through birth art, journaling, and visualization, parents harness their deepest resources to aid their journey from pregnancy to birth to postpartum. Having recently returned to Colorado from the Virgin Islands, Erin celebrates her life in Lyons with her husband and daughter. With gratitude she takes her place in the Boulder Doula Circle and each opportunity to help support life unfolding. Erin adores nurturing others and loves to make nourishing homemade soups and muffins to help bring comfort to new parents soon after their birth. Most memorably of all, Erin is discreet but passionate behind the camera. Her consummate skill as a photographer captures the precious unfolding of new life and new bonds. Erin looks forward to sharing the Sacred Pregnancy approach soon with our clients as well as placenta encapsulation services in the near future.
Melissa, HBCE (HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator, CD(DONA) Certified Birth Doula, Certified Hypnotherapist
Becoming a doula was an unexpected surprise! Although, as the former owner of a Yoga & Wellness Center, it was a natural fit. Taking the DONA Doula Training with Rae Davies and the Birth Company truly transformed what the birth experience "looked like". It shed light on my own birth experience. I truly believe that birth is a natural process, and when healthy women carrying healthy babies are free of fear, educated and supported, birth should occur without incident! My experience spans across home birth and hospital settings, VBAC support, twins, and even planned c-sections. I have also had the honor of supporting as a bereavement doula for miscarriage. I have had the pleasure of teaching to well over 200 expectant families in Florida and look forward to sharing this with expectant families of Boulder through Yo Mama and the Boulder Doula Circle! Birth education is the first piece to empowering families to make the best birth choices possible for them. I look forward to expanding my services to include Hypnosis for fertility, pregnancy and beyond.
“There’s a secret in our culture, and it’s not that birth is painful. It’s that women are strong.”
