Erin Phillip's journey through yoga has been exactly what all her teachers said it would be and an experience that she never thought it could be.  She stepped into yoga as a way to try and relieve stress and heal the tension in her neck and shoulders, but from there discovered a whole new world that she had been craving.  After a traumatic shift in her life in 2002, what was a physical healing then turned into an emotional and finally spiritual healing and exploration that has opened up infinite possibilities for how to live her life.

Erin went through a major life transformation when her brother passed away and her immediate family was turned upside down and inside out.  She suddenly found herself asking: what kind of life did she really believe in living and what kind of people did she want to surround herself with?  After losing almost everything she loved, she began to make different life choices and surround herself with authentic individuals who were also on a life path of finding happiness through introspection.   Those people and choices have led her down the delightful, winding road of yoga and teaching.

Now, after 11 years of practicing many styles of yoga and teaching vinyasa yoga, she is on the profound path toward Anusara Yoga certification.  Erin says, “It’s hard to believe that my life is in a place of actualizing my dreams through teaching and yoga.  I believe that through asana, breath and meditation, it is possible to transform your life into the way your heart longs for it to be.  It is incredible to witness aligning your mind, breath and body to align your life.  Suddenly you find that all the evils of the world start to dissolve into stepping stones towards bathing in wonderment at the divine process of your life.”

Now Erin lives in South Boulder with her husband and son.  She has since expanded her Anusara teaching into Prenatal and is so relieved to be involved in the Yo Mama yoga community that understands what it is to be a parent and a yogini!

Deborah McNamara is a mother and certified yoga teacher who has been on the path of spiritual unfolding for many years, having delved into the mystical Christian, Buddhist and Hindu traditions through both academic study as well as time practicing in monasteries and retreat centers in the US, Europe and India.  Deborah has been a long time student of Sofia Diaz, a widely recognized yoga teacher influenced by South Indian sacred temple dance, a tradition deeply honoring the profound heart strength of the feminine form. She received her Yoga Teacher Training certification from the Shambhava School of Classical Hatha Yoga in Colorado in 2004.   Deb's classes are nourishing and contemplative, offering space to deepen in your journey of embodying what you most love - and a sacred space to attend to your precious human body.  She also works for the Northwest Earth Institute (www.nwei.org), an Oregon based ecological non-profit promoting voluntary simplicity and sustainable lifestyle.

Janel Ferrin, Yoga Teacher and Childbirth Educator.  Janel began teaching yoga on the shores of the Middle Fork of The Salmon in Idaho in 2001. She recieved her yoga teaching certificate here in Colorado.  She furthered her training at the Yoga Institute for Yoga and Ayurveda and recieved a certificate in Yoga Therapy.  As a yoga therapist Janel works with people to find balance in their lives to prevent/cure illness and disease and to optimize health.  She uses specific breathing, meditation, yoga postures, herbs, and food to accomplish this as a therapist.

Janel is also a  Childbirth Educator and is a doula with the Boulder Doula Circle.  She adores helping women while they flow into motherhood healthfully, lovingly, and empowered.  Janel encourages yoga students to be playful and inquisitive in class.

Yoga provides a wonderful opportunity to discover how capable we are to grow babies and take care of them.  As a mother of two she values community support and is delighted to help families find support in their own community here in Boulder.

Mira Gale dove heartfirst into the yoga tradition 17 years ago when she became a full time resident of Shoshoni Yoga Retreat. Thirsty for spiritual growth and understanding, she spent many blissfully long days engaged in seva (selfless service) and the focused practice of hatha yoga, pranayama, and meditation. Slowly the apple ripened, as she continued imbibing the wisdom of yogic and Vedic philosophy, and gaining practical knowledge about Ayurvedic cooking and bodywork. Shortly into her ten year stay there, she completed Shoshoni's Shambhava School of Yoga teacher training certification, teaching yoga and meditation to staff and retreat guests, and eventually went on to assist with yoga teacher trainings and become staff manager. Shambhava Yoga is a heart-centered and joyful approach to hatha yoga which draws on the rich philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism and the grace of a living Siddha lineage. Mira enjoys teaching many types of yoga including foundation, flow, and prenatal.  Mira feels especially privileged to work with expectant and new mothers, and serves as a postpartum doula in the Boulder community.   A founding member of Shiva's Garden, she has been a kirtan leader in the Boulder community for many years. She maintains a private integrative bodywork practice "Quiet Touch Massage" in Boulder and Lafayette. Mira may be reached through her website: www.everyonedeservesmassage.com
